Making Moon Water for Rituals, Bathing, Diffusing, Drinking, etc.

Making moon water… Is that really “a thing”? While I don’t feel it’s my place to speak on behalf of others who might make moon water, I feel comfortable - confident, even - saying for myself: Yes, it’s a thing. In fact, it’s a beautiful thing.

The concept of moon water is rooted in the concept of intangibles - those things that impact us even with their non-physical form. It takes the physical element of water and marries it to the non-physical element of moonlight… And that means we could perhaps rightfully call this celestial concoction moonshine. (It just packs a different sort of kick, is all.)

Why moon water?

Moon water - water infused with moon energy - encapsulates the energetic framework of the moon for the purpose of bringing that energy into our lives in a deeper way. And that’s desirable because of the moon’s resonance with feminine cycles, with the rising and receding of the tides, and with profound intuitive wisdom.

Moon water may…

  • support the realignment of the female moon cycle (bathing, diffusing, drinking);

  • enrich the water element of the human body (bathing, drinking);

  • invite deeper communication with water elementals (rituals, diffusing);

  • promote greater intuitive knowing (rituals, bathing, diffusing)

This isn’t any sort of a known remedy or prescription for related dis-ease. It is, however, a resonant “tonic” that works with our metaphysical dynamics and may provide physical results, when applicable.

Making moon water

For making moon water, we need:

  1. a glass jar with a lid

  2. water

  3. a full moon

And to make moon water, we need to…

  1. fill the glass jar with our water of choice and put the lid on it,

  2. set the glass jar of water either outside (if temperature is well above freezing) under the full moon sky, or inside a window that receives plenty of the full moon’s light, and

  3. leave the jar overnight to soak up as much of the moon’s energy as possible.

Then, we store the moon water in a cool, dark location - a pantry, closet, refrigerator - for use as desired or needed. If the water is for drinking, storing it in the refrigerator for long-term use is optimal.

Additional options

Want to add another layer of energy and impact to our moon water’s dynamics? We might consider…

  • adding water-safe crystals to the water before placing it in the moonlight;

  • setting a crystal on the lid of the jar or beside the jar when placing it in the moonlight;

  • writing a spell or intention and tucking it under the jar when placing it in the moonlight;

  • adding essential oil that aligns with or complements our intention for the water to the water before placing it in the moonlight.

Tuning in to our intuition may reveal some other delicious options for our moon water’s tuning and toning. And if it’s a full moon and yet clouds obscure its light, no worries. As this is all about energy and intention, the full moon’s energy will still charge water placed where it would otherwise illuminate it.
