Island of Calm

Last Sunday, at 11:30am, I met up with the Ya-Yas at North Beach, in North Hampton. It was glorious, and it was necessary.North Beach, North Hampton, NHI needed to be at the ocean equally as much as I needed to be with my Ya-Yas. To have both at the same time was something close to perfection.Looking South toward Hampton, Seabrook, Massachusetts...North Beach, Looking SouthLooking North toward Rye, Portsmouth, Maine...North Beach, Looking NorthWe decided to recreate our PEI footprints in the North Beach's sand.PEI footprints, August 20, 2003:Ya-Ya Footprints in PEI's red sand. August 20, 2003There's such a startling difference in the sand color. PEI's sand is rich with red clay, unlike North Beach's.North Beach footprints, June 10, 2012:Ya-Ya Feet, June 10, 2012, North Beach, NHA circle of Ya-Ya feet, friendship, and love.We drank mimosas out of discreet containers (Shh... Don't tell.), enjoyed the feel of the sand engulfing our feet, breathed in the salty ocean air, raised our faces to the sun, and sang "Amazing Grace" full-out.Then, we went to a popular (and long-established) Hampton hot-spot for a memorable lunch that ended with fruit and marshmallows and graham crackers drenched by waterfalls of dark chocolate.Flower beds are abundant at The Old SaltThe entire experience was an island of calm in the sea of craziness that is my life at this moment.I treasure its glow even today, and I treasure my Ya-Yas - amazing women, every one - who glow themselves.Where, or what, is your island of calm?
